This document is intended to provide guidance for developing a program that prevents the introduction of quagga and zebra mussels to reservoirs where public recreation occurs. This guidance provides a process for assessing a waterbody’s vulnerability to the introduction of dreissenid mussels, recommendations for monitoring activities to detect the presence of adult and veliger dreissenid mussels, and options for managing recreational activities to prevent dreissenid mussel introductions.
